We are pleased to announce that Lina Cuartas is one of five winners in the Dr Pepper Sabrosura Contest!  Hispanic artists were asked to submit an original creation that best captures the essence of being Hispanic. Professional judges chose 23 semifinalists from numerous entries from around the country. The top five winners were selected by eligible voters in an on-line Internet judging contest earlier this year. Lina’s award-winning painting will be one of five works of art exhibited in 23 cities throughout the country this year. 

Lina’s creation, entitled the “The Latin Chameleon,” represents the ability of Hispanics to adapt and assimilate in order to survive and flourish in their new surroundings. Her painting was inspired by a short story Lina wrote about her youngest son, Juan. This bilingual short story, entitled “The Colombian Chameleon,” is about a young boy who changes his outfits and personality in order to bravely conquer life’s challenges. 

Your family will enjoy this endearing story about survival, resilience and inner strength. “The Colombian Chameleon” will be available in 2008.
